I've never done a blog before but was inspired by a friend and her daughter to start one about Lindsey's scoliosis journey. It's freaky to even think about Lindsey having surgery. Her scoliosis curve is at worst 48 degrees (has been measured between 43-48 degrees). However, she complains of pain and her back looks, well, quite crooked! Sometimes when her muscle tenses up on the right side of her s-curve, it is raised and rock hard and she is in pain. We know her scoliosis is not going to get better...only worse. She's 18 and will be going off to college this fall. If she is going to have surgery, it makes sense to do it now. She is not at the 50 degree cutoff mark where surgery is suggested so it feels like she could go either way.. I guess. I don't want her to get older and be in more pain. I have heard too many stories. But the thought of my child having serious surgery on her back makes me want to throw up.
